Hot off the press

July 31, 2011

On the heels of the Down East magazine article, ‘Every Mainer’s Kitchen” comes a feature story about our bath renovations in Old House Journal magazine’s Special Fall Issue: Creating beautiful vintage baths. Old House Journal, established in the early 1970’s in response to the modern restoration movement, is the original restoration magazine.

The article, “Baths Made Simple” explores our restoration philosophy using two projects: a stately Victorian mansion and country farm house.

The 1872 Italianate on historic Hinckley Hill in Calais, Maine was once owned by lumber baron, George Eaton. George came from an illustrious lumber family; his father, Henry, was one of the pioneer lumbermen of the St. Croix Valley.

The other renovation happens to be the bathroom in our 1893 Foursquare farmhouse on Boyden Lake.

For a preview of the article and a ‘tour’ of our home you can go to Old House online.  Keep an eye on your local newsstands for the November issue.
